Child safety standards
Y2K Chat has zero tolerance for child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE), including child sexual abuse material (CSAM). Any such content or conduct is forbidden, and we act on it immediately.
What is prohibited
- Sharing, requesting or linking to child sexual abuse material in any form, including messages, voice messages, display names and profile text.
- Grooming: building a relationship with a child, or with someone you believe is a child, for sexual purposes.
- Sexualised comments about, or sexual roleplay involving, minors.
- Sextortion, or threatening to share intimate content of a minor.
- Trafficking or arranging the sexual exploitation of children.
Who can use Y2K Chat
Y2K Chat is only for adults aged 18 and over. Everyone confirms their age at sign-up, and accounts we learn belong to minors are deleted. Y2K Chat has no search, public profiles or way to contact strangers: you can only talk to people who add you and whom you add back.
How to report
- In the app: long-press the message or voice message, or open the person's menu, choose Report and select "Involves a child". You can block the person at the same time.
- By email: support@y2kchats.com, subject "Child safety report".
- If a child is in immediate danger, contact your local police first. In India you can also report at cybercrime.gov.in or call 1930. In the US: NCMEC CyberTipline.
What we do
- Child safety reports are reviewed with the highest priority.
- We remove the content and permanently ban the account. Banned people are blocked from creating new accounts.
- We keep a copy of the reported material, accessible only to moderators, for 365 days so that it is available to law enforcement.
- We report apparent CSAM and child sexual exploitation to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC), and to the relevant authorities, including Indian law enforcement under the POCSO Act and IT Rules.
- We cooperate with valid legal requests from law enforcement.
Laws we follow
We comply with the child safety laws that apply to us, including India's Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012, the Information Technology Act, 2000 and its rules, and the reporting obligations that apply where our users are.
